About this template

Observe a real soaked kidney bean prepared and opened by an adult, then draw its outside and its two inside halves. An original reference distinguishes the seed coat, a cotyledon and the tiny embryo along the inner edge. Starter uses Seed coat, Seed leaf and Baby plant labels and asks the child to point to a visible part. Growing introduces Cotyledon and Embryo, asks for label arrows on the child's own drawing and provides a short observation line. The bean has two cotyledons; its food supply is stored there, rather than being labeled as a separate endosperm. Specimens can differ from the guide. This observation task has no fixed answer key.
